Snowflake: Data Share

Share your source data with us from a secure data share

Written by Kevin Jabbour

If your source data is in Snowflake, data can be shared directly with Kohort as a Snowflake Listing.

Prerequisites

Before you start, you'll need:

  • A source table that contains validated, cleaned and mapped data ready for export as per the CLF data specification

  • A Consumer Account ID, provided to you as part of the onboarding process

  • A Snowflake user with the ORGADMIN role and a completed profile (first name, last name and email set)

The Snowflake Web Interface, Snowsight, is needed to setup a Provider for the Data Share.

Sharing Data Across Different Regions

Listings let you share data with people in any Snowflake region, across clouds, without performing manual replication tasks.

Setting Up the Provider

Step 1: Accept Terms of Service

While logged in with the user account with the ORGADMIN role, go to https://app.snowflake.com/#/provider-studio and then review and accept the Terms of Service.

At this stage if the user profile is not set up with name and email, you may be redirected.

Step 2: Create Listing

  • On the Snowflake home page, navigate to the Private Sharing page within the Data Products tab

  • Select Share at the top right of the screen, and select the Publish to Specified Consumers option. This should redirect you to a new page with a pop model

  • Name the listing as your company name (This makes it easier for us to identify the listing on our Snowflake account). Ensure to select the Only Specified Consumers option

  • Click Next

Step 3: Share Table

  • Within the What's in the listing selection, you can select the desired database/table to be shared

  • You can now specify Kohorts Account Identifier within the Add consumer accounts section

Step 4: Publish

Finally, click Publish and you'll have shared the data to the second account
